To use Ventrilo you will need speakers and a microphone, you could use a head set with microphone.
Go to Ventrilo's web site and down load the newest version of Ventrilo. All you should need is the Client program, however we have had replies from a few who said they had to download the server program as well before theirs would work. This should not happen however should your not work go a head and download both. They are both very small files and both are free. Below the button is detailed instructions on how to set up your Ventrilo and connect to our Server. Looking forward to seeing and hearing you in game.

Below are several pictures of the setup process for Ventrilo.
For those who are familiar with Ventrilo our settings are as follows:
Server Name: L2DF
Host name or IP: cadmium.typefrag.com
Port number: 29461
No Password Needed
The first picture is the first screen you will see. To set this up
Click on the small icon to the far right that looks like this -> next
to the User Name text box. The next picture will show you what you get then.
Below is the next window you will see. Click on the icon "New".
This is the window you will get after you have clicked on the icon new in the previous screen. Simply type in your User name you wish to use. We recommend you use your main characters name, nick name or your real first name.
Click OK then click the next OK. This will take you back to the next window.
After you have clicked the two OKs you will be back to the window below. The next thing in order is "Server" once again to the far right of the "Server" text box is another -> icon. Click on this one.
Click on the new Icon then you will get the next screen.
In the text box labeled "Name" type in L2DF, then click OK.
Now in the text box labeled Host name or IP type in"
cadmium.typefrag.com
then in the text box labeled port number type in
29461
Be sure to un-check the box labeled "allow other to record my conversation". Click Ok and we are done with this part.
Now you will see the window below: the only difference is your Name and our server name will be in the appropriate box.
From here we go to the set up process. On the right side, the fourth
button up from the bottom click on the set up button.
You will get the following Window.
The only tab we will be concerned with is "Voice" this is also the default window
when you go to set up.
First we will start with the left side of this window. Check the first three boxes. Then check
Play Key Clicks. The next step is hard for some so don't get mad if you don't get it the first time.
"Hot key" place your mouse courser in the text box, Click once. This will change what is in the box to
"Mouse Button 1" Now to change the "Press to talk key to the key of your choice, while the courser
is still in the box press the Key you want to use. (See the Keyboard picture)
Knowing there are many different styles of keyboards on the market today we have no way of knowing which style you have
therefore we have chosen to picture one style and try to make suggestions using the one pictured below.

Notice in game to attack another player you must press the "CTRL" button on your keyboard. Therefore you can use
one of the two "CTRL" buttons as Ventrilo does distinguish between the two. The one you would use would depend on whether
you are right handed or left handed for the most part. Some players pick one of the two arrows keys which would more you to
the right or left. Although I find this to be a bad choice because if you try to talk while moving your character will turn to the right or left,
depending on which of these keys you use. Then some players chose the "Cap Lock" button, this choice and one of the "CTRL" buttons
are a good second choice in the opinion of the writer of this. If your keyboard has it I strongly recommend you use the button showed
in the picture above. This is the ONLY key which does nothing in the game.
At this point we are done with the left side. See picture below for the right side.
What you see are my setting at the time of publishing this page.
Make sure the two Use Direct Sound boxes are checked in
regards to Output device and Input device. Many players use the default sound device, however
you may be able to use the default settings or you may need to reset them to match the sound card
in your computer. change sound cards you may have to change these default settings. Settings in
the "Hardware input mixer (Optional) may also need to be changed to match your sound card but try
all of these with the default settings first. Slide the line volume bar to max, if it is slide-able. Next we move to
Amplifiers. To start with slide both "Outbound and Inbound" to +10. Last but not least comes
"System Sound Control Panels" See picture below.
Under the heading "System Sound Control Panels" click on "Playback (output)" button. A new window will
open this is your computer's Audio controls. If you do not see all of the above controls click on Options
and make sure the "Microphone Control is viable. If it is not checked check the "Mute" box for Microphone.
Done here.
Ok click on the "Recording (input)" button. This will open your computer's "Record Control" once again if
Microphone is not showed click on Options and check the Microphone box is checked. Here make sure
the "Select" box is checked. Ok done here. Click "OK" and it will take you to the next window.
